LAHORE.,, Feb. 8: The Jamaat e Islami chief Syed Munawar Hasan has said that confrontation between institutions would be harmful for the country and the PPP would be the major loser.

He believed that India had a hand in the Karachi killings.
He was of the view that peace could not be established in Karachi as long as the PPP and MQM were ruling the Sindh province. He said the PPP ministers in Sindh had blamed the MQM for the killings in Karachi but it was unclear whether it was due to national interest or outside pressure that the two were pulling on the ruling alliance.

He said that terrorism could not be wiped out by making Pakistan a military state.
He counseled the government to hold talks with all groups of the Taliban and not with any particular group.
To a question, Syed Munawar Hasan said mid term elections won’t make any difference. He said that in the February 18 elections the masses had voted against Pervez Musharraf’s policies but this had not materialized. He said after the elections, President Zardari had declared that the PPP had got votes in the name for “Roti, Kapra and Makan” but the government even failed to implement its agenda.
