                  Kashmir situation


LAHORE Jan 11: Jamaat-e-Islami Shoora has paid glowing tributes to sons and daughters of Islam who rendered valuable sacrifices for the ongoing freedom struggle in Indian held Kashmir.
In a resolution, the Shoora also paid tributes to the political leadership and citizens for continuing the freedom struggle under most difficult conditions with complete solidarity and perseverance. The Shoora said the mujahedin countering the oppression of over 750 thousand strong Indian army are the crown of Muslim Ummah. Shoora expressed total solidarity with Kashmiris assuring them that Pakistani Muslims will extend all possible help in their freedom movement and will not leave them despite Pakistani rulers’ ditching them on the pressure of world imperialists.
The Shoora condemned Pakistani government for directionless talks with India without first acknowledging Kashmir a disputed territory and making Kashmiris a party to it and without determining a timeframe. It also condemned the rulers for taking unilateral measures towards India violating the national stance and without taking parliament and people into confidence. It makes it clear on rulers particularly Gen Pervez Musharraf that UN resolutions calling for plebiscite and right to self determination has been a just and principled stance of Pakistani government for which world opinion could be easily organized by presenting justified arguments to run down Indian claim on Kashmir. The formula of subcontinent’s division and creation of Pakistan have also been strong arguments in its support and qualifying this stance as the only possible just solution of the Kashmir dispute. Shoora demands the Government should work on this issue by firmly backing it.
The Shoora strongly condemned Indian official for declaring Kashmir India’s integral part and its people as Indian citizens while standing on Pakistani soil, and terms this act as a slap on the face of Pakistani rulers and clear violation of UN resolution and world community. Shoora demands UN Security Council and secretary general that instead of becoming a tool and rubber stamp in the hands of world powers they should discharge their duties on Kashmir and arrange to hold a plebiscite for allowing Kashmiris their right to self determination.
The Shoora cautioned the government that it should take notice of the Indian attitude and instead of indulging in meaningless talks launch aggressive diplomacy to arrange a decisive role of the world community. Government should establish Kashmir desks in all embassies and employ Kashmiris in them so that they could win world support for UN resolutions. Shoora warned the government against extending friendship with India for the sake of freedom of Kashmir, stop citing the world ‘flexibility’, and reduce ties at all levels with India and demand the same from the Muslim world in order to increase pressure on India to solve the issue. Besides, Pakistan should start courageous efforts to frustrate Indian campaign for getting permanent membership of Security Council and make effective lobbying among Muslim countries and OIC for getting a permanent seat in Security Council for Muslim world.
Shoora demands the government for immediately lifting ban on mujahedin and expose the reality of state terrorism of India by outright rejection of her allegation of cross border terrorism and explaining the reality of 16 year old freedom struggle and Indian atrocities that left eighty thousand Kashmiris dead and scores of others wounded and missing. The Shoora expressed resolve that all Pakistanis should express complete solidarity with Kashmiris inside the country and all over the world on February 5, and now allow the rulers to destroy Kashmir’s unity. The shoora also condemned the rulers for suggestions to divide Kashmir on the basis of language and culture. It demands the rulers to stay committed to the national stance and hold talks with India on equality basis. It asked the rulers not to indulge into side issues by leaving aside the core issue (Kashmir).
The Shoora condemns the measures against national honor in the name of confidence building and demands strict action and dismissal from service for those officials who spoke against two nation theory. It demands increasing economic and social pressure on India by effectively using OIC platform. The shoora condemns dual standards of those who termed Kashmiris freedom struggle as terrorism, and demands the rulers to extend total backing to this genuine and legitimate freedom struggle like they had earlier supported Afghans along with the USA.
