JI elects new shoora for the session 2007-2010 Lahore, Dec 29: The elections for new central Shoora of Jamaat-e- Islami for the next three year term 2007-2010 have been completed. Announcing the names of the 70-member Shoora, the chief election commissioner Sajjad Ahmad Niazi said the new apex policy-making body of the JI is comprised of 17 doctors, besides lawyers, engineers, educationists and Islamic scholars. It may be added that Jamaat-e-Islami is the only political party of the country whose leadership from top to bottom is elected through secret ballots. The Shoora is the central policy making body of the party and to ensure representation of entire country the whole country is divided into 35 zones with respect to the number of JI members (Arkan). The JI ameer, naib Umra, secretary general and provincial umra are members of the shoora by virtue of their offices. The Shoora is elected by JI members through secret ballot system.
