MMA women protest against WPB outside parliament Islamabad, Nov 21: Women activists of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) staged a protest in front of Parliament House against the passage of the Women's Protection Bill (WPB) on Tuesday. The protesters chanted slogans against the government and held placards inscribed with slogans against the bill. Senator Dr Kasur Firdaus told the protesters that Islamic values were ruined in the WPB and the government wanted to westernise Pakistan and promote vulgarity. The MMA Senator said that women in the West were insecure and Islam gave women protection. She asked the members of the Senate to oppose the bill and urged them not to let it be passed in the Senate. She warned that women would stage countrywide protests for their Islamic rights if the bill was passed in the Senate. |
