LAHORE, Dec 26: Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Qazi Hussain
Ahmad has demanded of the government to clarify the American
allegation of embezzling five billion dollar American aid meant for
combating the so called war against terror. "The nation should know
the faces who usurped the American money."
He was talking to various delegates who called on him Wednesday at
party headquarters Mansoorah. He took strong exception to meddling
of the respective nazims ahead of polls. This, he said, is ample
proof of the so called transparency in the election process under an
autocratic ruler. It is ridiculous to make tall claims of free
elections at times when the judiciary had been subjecting to oath
under the PCO, he lamented.
Qazi Sahib mocked President Pervez Musharraf claim of holding free
and fair elections on January 08 saying there would be record
rigging in the polls and the entire nation is looking at the
manifestations of upcoming engineering in the polls with open eyes.
Terming the interim regime continuation of the previous government,
Qazi Hussain Ahmad observed that a former Chief Minster is still
enjoying the protocol as head of provincial executive. He said in
sheer violation of the Election Commission directives; heavy
spending is underway in the election campaign of the PML (Q).
The state machinery, he observed, is being used in the election
campaign of the King's party. National media is buzzed with the news
and pictorial coverage about the use of police and other state
institutions in the election drive of the ruling party. The Election
Commission has turned a blind eye towards these glaring violations.
He went on to say that pro-Musharraf political parties are breaching
the election code of conduct with immunity while an allied party of
the PML (Q) has made it literally difficult for other political
parties to run their election campaigns.
Qazi Hussain Ahmad urged all political parties to boycott the
January 08 elections and avoid from becoming a tool in the hands of
selfish rulers who are out to validate their misdeeds committed
during the emergency. (#)
