Elections in the presence of Musahrraf would
strengthen military dictatorship: Qazi
Lahore, July 7:
MMA president and Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad has
warned that any elections in the presence of Gen Musahrraf would
only strengthen the military dictatorship. All the opposition
parties will have to get united in a platform to take an
unequivocal decision of supremacy of the constitution and removal
of military dictatorship, he said while addressing the opening
session of PML-N called APC in London, says a message received
here on Saturday.
Qazi said
entire nation is united on '73 constitution and it should be
restored on its position of
Oct 12, 1999.
He said complete independence of judiciary, ensuring all civil and
democratic liberties, autonomous election commission and correct
and impartial voters lists has acquired a status of national
agenda. He urged upon all the participants of APC that they will
have to get united on this agenda and decide about a concerted and
comprehensive struggle for its achievement.
Qazi emphasized that the dictator who
usurped the power at gun point would never leave it on mere
statements and appeals. All the political parties will have to
launch a unanimous struggle for this purpose. He supported the
suggestion of Mian Nawaz Sharif that all the opposition parties
should resign from assemblies en bloc if Gen Musharraf tried to
get himself re elected as president from the same assemblies. He
said if any one or two parties did not join into this decision
even then all other parties should resign to activate the masses
to get rid of the military dictator. Qazi Hussain Ahmad suggested
that APC should constitute a committee to chalk out a
comprehensive, unanimous and long term plan, adding that the
exiled leadership should also return immediately and try to
overcome those hurdles which government created in their return.
Earlier, Qazi
Hussain Ahmad made the APC to pray and offer Fateha for those
killed in
Karachi
on May 12 and who have been killed in the city everyday, those who
were killed in Balochistan, victims of floods and those killed in
Lal masjid military operation, at the start of the conference. He
said MQM is a fascist gang shedding blood of innocent political
workers and opponents under Gen Musahrraf's patronization, while
its leader is sitting in
London
issuing orders of murder and massacre. He demanded the British
government to stop sheltering a terrorist and criminal and instead
put him into a court. Qazi said independence of judiciary is the
key of all independences, adding that we are standing at its back.
He said Pakistan should not only be liberated from the military
occupation but also from the foreign interventions because the
country is betraying with the cause of Kashmiri freedom struggle
on US pressure, besides punishing our great hero Dr Qadeer Khan
for his uncommitted crimes, massacring innocent people in tribal
areas, madaris and mosques and has put our army against its own
people. |
