Army made prisoner of conscience after
Lal Masjid carnage: Qazi
Lahore, July 10:
President Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal and Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami
Pakistan Qazi Hussain Ahmad has termed the Lal masjid massacre as
national tragedy, adding that rulers have made the whole army as a
prisoner of conscience. Several evidences show that president
House failed the dialogue and desecrated the sanctity of mosque
and women.
In a statement on the Jamia Hafsa tragedy on
Tuesday, Qazi Hussain Ahmad said the whole nation is suffering
from a deep shock and sorrow because the crisis evolving out of
the controversy of mosques' demolition was pushed to the brutal
massacre of innocent men and women, and shoot to kill orders for
media personnel in hospitals is a proof that loss of lives is much
higher and unspeakable.
The JI leader expressed deep concerns that
by committing a massacre in Jamia Hafsa and Lal masjid,
a bloody line has been drawn between army and the people. He
warned that bridging this gulf will require a long time and
continuous efforts. He said the nation is asking if launching
operations in tribal areas, Balochistan and mosques/madaris is the
only job of the army which has been raised to fight against
enemies. He said the rule of Gen Musharraf has brought the whole
army against its own nation.
He said there were several occasions during
this crisis where it could have been easily and peacefully solved
but president house prevented every peaceful solution. Even in the
last moments it could have been peacefully resolved, but president
House again intervened to prevent both sides from reaching the
agreement and final attack was launched when the government's
negotiating team was still there. Qazi said Gen Musharraf's rule
has lost its justification, and whole nation has to get united to
rid the military dictatorship as soon as possible. He expressed
fears that if military ruled continued further, the whole country
would be thrown into bloodshed.
Qazi Hussain Ahmad said every loss of lives
in Lal masjid operation, whether of inmates men and women
or of the army, is a national loss and tragedy, and nation is
deeply grieved over it. |
