LAHORE, Nov 03: The Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad termed the imposition of emergency an act of High Treason.

In a statement Qazi Hussain Ahmad said that the nation should offer full resistance to this act. He said Supreme Court had already declared such a measure against the constitution and the law of the land. Qazi warned that all those who supported Gen Musharraf in this act had actually committed the High Treason and they should be prepared for their fate as required by the constitution.

Qazi Hussain Ahmad advised the army to act as a patriotic institution under the present circumstances, remove General Pervez Musharraf as a retired general to correct the state of affairs and restore a civilian set up. He expressed satisfaction majority of judges had refused to take oath under PCO and condemned the manhandling of the judges by the security forces. He said entire nation was at the back of judges would not allow their humiliation or further usurping of their fundamental rights.

He said JI shoora decided to resist the move and strategy for the resistance would be chalked out after consultation with MMA and other opposition parties like APDM and PPP in the next couple of days.

Qazi Hussain Ahmad went on to say that an individual has once again made the whole nation hostage for the sake of his power and American agenda, and put the pillars of state against one another which has ushered the nation into the most dangerous situation in its history.

He urged upon all the opposition parties to chalk out a joint strategy to counter this extra ordinary situation, adding that it was also the collective responsibility of the whole nation to get out in the field as a united force for the sake of national security.
