LAHORE, Nov 05: Jamaat-e-Islami
ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad has urged upon the nation to come out on
the streets to protect next generations, asking JI workers to employ
such methods of civil disobedience which cause the regime to
dislodge.
In his message to the nation on Monday prior to his house arrest,
which was issued to media by JI information department, Qazi said
government and its agencies, army, police and rangers were using all
tactics to suppress democratic rights of the
people and public protests, therefore it has become necessary for
the unarmed people to employ alternative resources.
Earlier, talking to media in Mansoorah, Qazi said Gen Musharraf
committed high treason and should be tried and punished article 6 of
the constitution. He said it was not emergency rule but martial law
in this garb, since emergency did not suspend the constitution
except for few articles. He said Gen Musahrraf imposed this martial
law since he feared Supreme court would give judgment against him in
the petition challenging his eligibility for presidential elections.
Qazi said the nation should reject the judges taking oath under PCO
and acknowledge the chief justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhri and
others who refused PCO. He said at present there was no law in the
country, nor the rulers possessed any civility or decency as they
were subjecting the masses to extreme torture to suppress their
protests. He condemnd the police torture and arrests of lawyers in
Lahore High Court, adding that political workers were being arrested
by police breaking into their houses. He said JI would initiate a
spirit in the nation to protest and resist the dictators and it
would spread all over the country. (#)
