      Hundreds of MMA workers held
 

LAHORE, Nov 05: Police arrested hundreds of MMA activists including the top leadership of Jamaat Islami on Monday, detaining JI ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad, secretary general Munawar Hasan and some other leaders inside their apartments in Mansoorah and declared the places as sub jail.

According to JI spokesman Ameerul Azim, armed police in riot gears surrounded Mansoorah at midday and served the detention orders to the leadership, after which armed police squads were deployed outside the houses of Qazi Hussain and Munawar Hasan and they were disallowed from coming out.

He said similarly reports reaching party head offices from different cities of Punjab, Sindh and NWFP said hundreds of workers and office bearers were arrested in police raids while their family members including women were manhandled. (#)
