MMA SC meeting postponed after police denied leadership entry in Mansoorah

LAHORE, Nov 8: MMA Supreme Council meeting at Mansoorah on Thursday was postponed after Police disallowed MMA leadership from entering the besieged locality and threatened to arrest those who had reached there.

Top MMA leaders arrived at Mansoorah Thursday evening including Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Senator Sajid Mir, Abdul Ghafoor Haidri, Akram Durrani, Allama Sajid Naqvi, Jalil Naqvi, Mohammad Khan Sherani, Pir Ijaz Hashmi, Qari Zawwar Bahadur and others. But the heavy police contingents guarding the place for the last three days refused them the entry, and they had to return despite long arguments with police officers.

The policemen misbehaved with the leaders and journalists who had reached there since the afternoon and had been waiting for long time. The policemen also tried to snatch cameras from photographers and TV cameramen, and manhandled others besides threatening them of dire consequences and arrests.

However, Senator Sajid Mir was lucky enough to managed entering Mansoorah on foot since he had arrived there at a time when few people were allowed entry to offer Zohr prayers. After that the cordon was intensified to prevent the media personnel from entering the place.

The MMA leaders then assembled at the residence of JUP secretary general Qari Zawwar Bahadur and held informal consultations there in which Qazi Hussain Ahmad and Liaqat Baloch were also included on telephone.
