LAHORE, Nov 16: On the appeal of MMA, a protest day was observed on Friday to condemn the imposition of emergency rule, sacking of Chif justice of the country and those judges who refused PCO. Demonstrations were held in all district headquarters, cities and towns after Friday prayers where MMA leaders addressed to the participants and demanded lifting of Emergency, restoration of chief justice and other judges, and the constitution of the country.

In Lahore, several demonstrations were held in different parts of the city including two outside Mansoorah including one by men and other by women workers, one at Chauburji, old city and Shalamar. Addressing the demonstration at Mansoorah, Jamaat Islami Deputy secretay general Farid Paracha said the military dictator who had been usurping the rights of the countrymen for the last eight years again subverted the constitution on Nov 3 when he felt that the supreme court could give verdict against his candidature for presidentship. He said Gen Musharraf shamelessly dismissed and detained judges of superior judiciary and launched military operation against the poor countrymen opposing the American agenda in the country.

Paracha warned that elections under Emergency would be a fraud and all the opposition parites had decided not to contest the elections. He said the opposition parties were getting united and the nation would soon hear a good news as a result of their struggle. Heavy police which had already guarded Mansoorah due to detention of Qazi Hussain Ahmad and other leaders remained alert during the demonstration which concluded peacefully.

Meanwhile, the women wing of JI Pakistan also held a separate demonstration led by Mrs Qazi Hussain Ahmad and others including Sameea Raheel Qazi, Atya Tariq, Rafat Saeed Paracha, Uzma Naveed, Tahira Hashmi and Samina Bajwa.
