     Munawar blasts Musharraf autocratic rule

LAHORE, Feb 3: Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Syed Munawar Hasan has said that Gen Musharraf is trying hard to make himself indispensable for America and consolidate his illegal rule by unleashing tough military operation in tribal areas, Balochistan and Swat. Entire responsibility of civil war in the country and lawlessness is on the shoulders of Gen Musharraf that is why the whole nation is demanding him to resign, he said while addressing the 55th annual convention of Islami Jamiat Talaba in Peshawar, says a press release by JI media cell on Sunday.

He said Gen Musharraf has made the living conditions in the country so dangerous for the citizens that all the retired generals and military officials have unanimously demanded him to step down but he is trying to make full use of American backing to continue for as long as possible.

He said APDM has decided in principle that fair and transparent elections are impossible under Gen Musharraf, and that participating in the elections in his presence will amount to provide justification to his illegal and unconstitutional rule.

He said APDM has initiated a wave of reawakening and realization among the nation and soon the nation will rise against the corrupt and illegal rule of Gen Musharraf. He said nationalist parties' demanding restoration of '73 constitution from the APDM platform is the most welcoming sign in their entire history and it will help restore real democracy and balanced federating structure in the country.
