LAHORE, Feb 9: Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Syed
Munawar Hasan has castigated the claims of top American official
indicating the presence of Al-Qaeda and Taliban leaders at Pakistani
border areas near Quetta, and termed it a conspiracy to find excuses
to attack Pakistan.
In a statement on Saturday, Munawar Hasan said Americans have a
habit of first weave a web of conspiracies against a country through
fabricated accusations and then shamelessly attack on the basis of
those accusations. He said in case of Afghanistan and Iraq,
Americans had leveled accusations of presence of Osama Bin Laden and
Weapons of Mass Destructions respectively, before attacking those
countries. However, after destroying both the countries and killing
millions of civilians, they more shamefully admitted that their
accusations were blatant lies.
He said Washington has been issuing baseless statements about
presence of Osama and Mulla Omar in Pakistani territory only to
attack and control our nuclear assets. Munawar also condemned the
resolution in US senate conditioning Pakistan's aid to democracy and
steps against terrorism, terming it hypocritical. He said America
has never sincerely backed nor wanted democracy in Pakistan and
instead always backed military dictators like Gen Musharraf. He said
American Senate resolution is an open interference in Pakistan's
internal affairs and Islamabad must protest against it strongly.
