Govt. to go early if judges were not restored: Qazi

LAHORE, Apr 6: Jamaat-e-Islami ameer and MMA president Qazi Hussain Ahmad has warned that if PPPP sidelined Nawaz Sharif and judges were not restored, then the present government would not last longer and crash along with the dream of democratic forces combating all challenges together.

He was addressing the inaugural session of the 3-day training workshop of FATA representatives, and elders of tribal areas including those of Khyber, Kuram, Mohmand, Bajaur and other agencies. Naib ameer Prof Mohammad Ibrahim, former MNA Maulana Abdul Maalik, Sahabzada Haroon ur Rasheed and Dr Ataur Rehman also addressed on the occasion.

Qazi Hussain Ahmad criticized PPP leadership for declaring Gen Musharraf national asset and creating atmosphere for co-existing with him, saying it was a cruel joke with the nation. He also condemned that billions of rupees of loans were being written off in the name of National Reconciliation which was cruelty with the already suppressed nation.

Qazi Hussain Ahmad welcomed the announcement of abolishing FCR, but demanded that as a substitute of the British era law Islamic Shariat should be enforced in tribal areas according to the wishes of the tribal people. He said tribal representatives, ulema and elders should be consulted and taken into confidence for the purpose. He expressed hopes that new democratic government would reverse the American policy of making tribal areas a battle field and stop killing its own people for American interests. He warned that America was looking for excuses to directly attack tribal areas, and in order to pressurize the new government in this regard feelers about presence of Osama and Taliban in tribal areas were being sent.

Qazi also demanded scrutiny into the role and history of Ansar Burney, saying he was trying to give nation another dead body in lieu of releasing another Indian spy and terrorist Sarabjit Singh. He said slaves of India were making a mockery of national honor and silence of new government on this humiliation was meaningful.
