LAHORE, Apr 17: Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Syed
Munawar Hasan has said that European Union's report on Pakistan's
recent general elections has exposed the massive rigging by PML-Q
and MQM.
He was addressing annual certificate distribution ceremony of
Tameer-e-Seerat College of Science and Commerce here Thursday. The
function was also addressed by college patron in chief Dr Fareed
Paracha, Principal Rasheed Akhtar, and director Faisal Paracha.
Munawar hasan said PML-Q and MQM tried to steal the election results
but failed to get much success because of the deep rooted public
hatred against Gen Musharraf. He said the report vindicated JI's
claims that MQM's claims of getting record mandate were fraud since
they not only rigged the elections but also got votes on gun point.
Munawar stressed that restoration of sacked judges is the foremost
issue facing the country but confusion is being spread among the
masses regarding the issue. He warned that if judges were not
restored within the announced time the situation in the country
would become worse. He said the country was already suffering from
power, atta and fuel crises, and advised the new democratic rulers
that they should take every step with care and consultation, and
avoid taking any measure that could provoke the masses.
He said the coalition rulers must keep in mind that people wanted
immediate removal of Gen Musharraf and reversal of American
policies. He advised the leadership of PPP that they should not test
the people's patience by giving statements about working with Gen
Musharraf in the president House. He warned that any constitutional
package aiming to curtail the term of office of chief justice will
amount to adding fuel to the fire and people will never accept it.
Munawar said knowledge brings real revolution since movements and
ideologies promote through education. He said those revolutions
which lack knowledge based experiences of the nation prove
temporary.
