LAHORE, Apr 23: Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Syed
Munawar Hasan has said that ruling alliance is ignoring to give
proper attention to the pressing public problems by giving
unnecessary delay to the issue of restoration of supreme court
judges.
In a statement issued by Jamaat-e-Islami Media Cell on Wednesday,
Munawar Hasan said masses are suffering seriously from the scarcity
of Atta and its rising prices. Ruling Alliance must immediately
restore the chief justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry and other
judges in order to focus its attentions towards solving the other
pressing public problems and providing them economic relief to cope
with the increasing price hike.
Munawar Hasan emphasized that the longer the rulers will take to
restore the judges, the more complex the situation will become for
them besides the intensifying of the internal and external pressures
on them. He said the delay will also allow conspiracies to be
hatched against them in increasing number. He said it is condemnable
that the President's House is still busy in conspiring against the
restoration of supreme court judges who were unconstitutionally
sacked by the president. He said if this issue of national
importance was sacrificed for some expediency or pressure, it will
not only create problems for coalition government and damage the
ruling alliance but also strengthen the hands of a military dictator
and destroy the dream of an independent judiciary.
He said establishment of an independent judiciary is extremely vital
under the present dangerous circumstances and problems facing the
country. He said the manner in which America and other foreign
powers are conspiring against Pakistan and the intensity with which
US and British officials are visiting the country in order to create
further instability, can only be countered through an independent
and sovereign judiciary. He said the delay in restoration of chief
justice and judiciary will create hatred against the rulers and also
create chaos and violence in the country.
Munawar said load shedding is causing serious damages to industrial
and agriculture sectors, while scarcity of Atta has made the lives
of common man worse than hell, in addition to lawlessness which is
increasing. Under these circumstances it is imperative upon the
rulers to give a comprehensive economic relief package for the
masses, take measures for bridging power shortage and solve the
problems created by war against terror through peaceful dialogue and
show commitment in refusing the external pressures in this regard.
