Syed Munawar Hasan blasts rulers' failure to contain flour shortage

LAHORE, Jan 08: Jamaat-e-Islami secretary-general Syed Munawar Hasan has held the interim rulers responsible for the flour shortage and unannounced load-shedding which is plaguing the country as an epidemic.

In a statement on Tuesday Syed Munawar Hasan said: "earlier a mafia in the government quarters made tall claims of bumper crop of wheat in the country and exported it abroad and afterwards the same mafia created artificial shortage of flour making the life of common man miserable." This, he said, necessitated import of the wheat from abroad.

He pointed out massive advertisements in the media holding the law and order situation responsible for the transportation of wheat in the country especially in the Sindh saying it is not reality at all as there is no hurdle in the way of wheat transportation in the country.

Syed Munawar Hasan said the interim rulers are covering up crisis which is exposing their ability to rule while the PML (Q) is busy in lofty spending on their election campaign. He demanded the election commission to take notice of this expensive media drive by the PML (Q).

The Jamaat leader dispelled an impression that the wheat and flour shortage has no political dimension as newspapers have published names of the notables from the political arena involved in masterminding the flour crisis in Pakistan. The people are very much perplexed in the wake of government's inability to check the prevalent power and flour shortage in the country. (#)
