LAHORE, Jan 12: Jamaat-e-Islami
Pakistan ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad has said that the real aim of
continuous terrorism in Pakistan is to get the country declared a
failed state so that its nuclear assets could be taken into control.
He said Gen Musharraf has actually admitted the failure of his
entire policies by warning against US and Nato intrusion in
Pakistani territories, and now he must step down instead of issuing
mere statements to let the political parties make a collective
strategy to counter this western threat against national security.
Qazi was talking to media and police officials on Saturday during a
visit to the offices of SSP Lahore to condole the deaths of
policemen killed in bomb blast on Thursday. JI information secretary
Amirul Azim and Mian Maqsood were also accompanying him. Qazi met
SSP Aftab Cheema and other officers and expressed condolence on the
killing of policemen besides praying for the victims and their
families.
Qazi alleged that Musharraf regime is concealing actual terrorists
by trumpeting the tune of Al-Qaeda and Taliban. Qazi expressed
sorrow that rulers had been afraid of naming the real enemies of the
state and the forces behind the terrorism in the country. He asked
how all the national and international intelligence agencies
including FBI had failed in locating the terrorists despite roaming
in the country freely for many years.
Qazi said in the wake of terrorists' strikes in Pakistan the
statements of US presidential candidates and western leaders against
Pakistani nuclear assets make it clear as to who were the real
enemies of the country. He appealed to the politicians to stop
leveling accusations against one another and forge unity by
realizing the dangers to the existence of the country.
To a question, Qazi said the holding of Feb 18 elections is
doubtful, adding that the electoral process was unconstitutional,
controversial and unjustified, which could only promote chaos
instead of forging stability. He said there was still time the
political parties should boycott the elections and struggle
collectively for bringing back the country on road to genuine
democracy, restoration of independent judiciary, independent
election commission and impartial caretaker government. Fresh
elections should be held after that, he added.
