LAHORE, Jan 14: Jamaat-e-Islami ameer and MMA president Qazi Hussain Ahmad has said that setting up national government on the pattern of caretaker government will give no results since elections will be meaningless without first ensuring supremacy of judiciary and constitution.

He said present elections are being held under a US plan to stage a show of democracy for the masses, whereas results have already been decided and a hung parliament will be created to provide strength to Gen Musharraf. He said even if some sincere people got elected they will be helpless against the establishment and will be unable to bring any change.

Qazi Hussain was delivering opening address to the 4-day meeting of Jamaat-e-Islami shoora which began its meeting at Mansoorah on Monday. Besides the Shoora members, all district ameers of the party are specially participating in the meeting as a mandatory feature.

Qazi Hussain Ahmad said nobody in the country had confidence over the caretaker rulers, constitution and judiciary have ceased to exist while the rulers have prepared bogus results for the elections. Qazi said the country is facing serious dangers from within and outside and Pakistan and its nuclear assets have been made an issue of US presidential elections. He said instead of mere changing face of rulers, judiciary and constitution should be restored, interim government and election commission should be constituted with consultation of all political parties besides allowing all people to freely contest elections.

Qazi directed all the office bearers and workers of the party to reach to the masses and apprise them that coming elections will only strengthen Gen Musharraf and weaken the country. He asked them to go into every constituency like election campaign and guide the masses about the conspiracies against country, democracy and people.

Qazi said America and western world have been working on eliminating Pakistan. He referred to different articles by American intellectuals spelling the need for Pakistan to relinquish Islamic ideology and warning that otherwise the country would cease to exist in the present shape by the year 2020. He expressed sorrow that Gen Musharraf joined the American conspiracies by making the country a frontline state in US war against terror and raised the slogan of Pakistan First which negated the Islamic concept of unity of Muslim Ummah. It gave the message that we should be concerned only for ourselves and ignore the victimized and oppressed Muslims of Kashmir, Palestine, Afghanistan etc. He said the war against terror was waged without first defining the word terrorism and terrorists.

Qazi said as a result of bring American war on Pakistani soil, Pakistan army was left insecure even in its barracks while the whole country was turned as high danger zone. He said enemies have penetrated deep into the country and a spree of arson and rampage was let loose after the murder of Benazir Bhutto in which property and vehicles worth billions of rupees were set on fire. He said subversive forces get organized and active with any opportunity and a sense of national unity and solidarity will have to be developed to counter such situations. He said without first estabilishing real democracy and rule of constitution no elections can bear fruits. He said a free and healthy atmosphere needs to be forged so that a truly democratic government could be created as a result of free elections.
