LAHORE, Jan 17: Jamaat-e-Islami has held the tenure of
Gen Musharraf and his team responsible for present political chaos,
internal instability, increasing dearness of food and other items of
daily use, and the foreign pressure. It is imperative to get rid of
this usurpers' group for the sake of country's independence,
sovereignty, Islamic identity, strong federation, rule of law,
justice and public welfare.
This was stated in a resolution on country's political situation
passed by JI Shoora on Thursday in its meeting held at Mansoorah and
chaired by Qazi Hussain Ahmad.
The resolution said the real issue facing Pakistani nation is that
of public power usurped by a group which caused a devastating
process in the country, and the Feb 18 elections will not bring any
healthy change but continue the devastative process of the usurpers.
The resolution expressed sorrow that certain important political
forces failed to see behind the dirty game of Gen Musharraf and
Washington and instead joined them despite the events of Dec. 27,
2007 and subsequent change of elections date which was nothing but
an attempt to continue the same process. It said Jamaat-e-Islami
boycotted elections along with some other political forces for the
same reasons, and has appealed to the people to stay away from the
so called unproductive elections since the real solution is to bring
a change and not the continuity, for which Shoora considered four
points very important.
First, the usurped power of Gen Musharraf must be immediately
terminated, since without his resignation the constitution, law and
order, federation's stability and political process could not be
realigned according to public aspirations, and because he has
indicated to keep his policies intact by the future governments.
Second, the army's role as defined by the constitution must be
implemented in latter and spirit with complete national consensus to
make army concentrate totally on national defense and have nothing
to do with politics, business, economy and administration. JI
welcomes the directives of the COAS to the army officers in his open
letter that army's role has been determined in the constitution and
laws of the land which does not allow the military officers to
participate in politics and having contacts with politicians. The
COAS rightly directed the officers to remain apolitical and do not
involve in any political activity whatsoever or express any
political bias, besides they do not indulge in any job for economic
benefits except that of their service and its privileges. JI
considers it a right measure at the right time which army officials
and officers should strictly implement with sincerity so that the
dark period initiated by Gen Ayub Khan and which Gen Musharraf has
taken to the worst shape should come to a permanent end.
Third, the constitution should be restored as on Oct 12, 99, and the
judiciary as on Nov 2, 2007, so as to establish the system of rule
of law in the country, politics and press could be liberated and
public confidence should be restored by restoring system of absolute
justice.
Fourth, elections should be held free, fair and transparent in the
presence of independent judiciary and media so that real public
representatives could be elected, and for that purpose an impartial
caretaker government should be established with national consensus,
independent and autonomous elections commission be established with
consultations. Any other path adopted would lead to further
destruction and destability.
JI invites APDM to participate in a countrywide program to activate
this four point program, and appeals to all political and religious
workers to launch collective struggle for this national agenda by
rising above their reservations so that the nation could be rid of
the usurpers' gang. JI invites the whole nation to participate and
play its full role in this struggle for national independence,
stability, sovereignty, ideological identity, and for political,
economic and federal stability.
