LAHORE, Jan 30: Jamaat-e-Islami has reiterated the
allegation that caretaker rulers have made foolproof arrangements
for rigging the coming elections, and asked the political parties
not to fall in their trap and boycott the elections to join the
movement to remove the dictatorship.
In a statement on Wednesday, JI deputy secretary general Mian
Maqsood Ahmad said a large number of prisoners in various jails all
over the country had written or informed the party leadership
through other sources that they have been forced to sign or affixed
their thumb stamp on the empty ballot papers. Maqsood said all such
ballot papers will be used in favor of PML-Q candidates. He said
such postal votes by tens of thousands of prisoners could cause
serious effects on election results.
Maqsood also said that in addition to that, all the workers and
employees in the offices of DCOs, district Nazims, DPOs, Health,
Education and other government departments have already been made to
sign and put thumb impression on their postal ballots as part of the
electoral rigging.
He said fake postal ballots are one example while the rulers have
made many other such 'arrangements' to win 'transparent' elections.
He warned the political parties against participating in the
elections and said it was high time they should boycott the
elections and participate in the remove Musahrraf movement to
restore real democracy and rule of constitution and law in the
country.
