LAHORE, JUNE 05: Acting Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami
Pakistan Syed Munawar Hassan has said on that the Pakistan People's
Party has reduced the constitutional package to the status of
puzzle.
"The ruling party is exhibiting inconsistency about it. The package
is a ploy to sabotage the restoration of deposed the chief justice
and other judges."
In a statement issued by the party media cell on Thursday, Syed
Munawar Hassan pointed out that the committee, constituted by the JI
acting ameer to mull over the so called constitutional package would
meet shortly, and come up with its viewpoint about the package. The
constitutional package, he lamented, is subjected to amendments
daily and new provisions are being incorporated in it in total
contrast of the spirit of 1973 constitution.
Syed Munawar Hasan said the poverty-stricken people of Pakistan are
befooled by indulging them in constitutional matters. "They are sick
with price hike and load-shedding. The lawlessness is rampant all
across the country while US intervention in the internal matters of
Pakistan has touched unprecedented heights." The JI leader regretted
that the hopes of masses are dying down due delay in the restoration
of the deposed judges.
He expressed his dismay over the fact that meetings on conditional
package are scheduled in Dubai and London which clearly indicates
that the leaders are hiding facts about the talk on package. He
alleged that the PPP is delaying the matters intentionally so that
judges' restoration is all together shelved.
Syed Munawar Hassan warned that further delay in the restoration of
deposed judges would aggravate the situation beyond repair. The
acting ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami urged the party cadre to take part
in the lawyers' long March on June 10 and accord them red-carpet
welcome.
