NRO main hurdle in judges restoration: Qazi

LAHORE, May 13: Jamaat-e-Islami ameer and MMA president Qazi Hussain Ahmad has said that NRO has become the main hurdle in restoration of judges since Asif Zardari has been quashing corruption cases against him under this ordinance through PCO judges.

The continued ignoring of judges' restoration suggested that Zardari and PCO judges are protecting each others' interests, Qazi said while addressing a 3-day training workshop at Mansoorah on Tuesday. Qazi said PPP has proved itself to be an edition of PML-Q. He said now judges would be restored through forceful mass movement, and APDM will devise its future strategy on Wednesday (today) in Islamabad.

He said if Nawaz Sharif was serious in judges' restoration he should openly support APDM and lawyers community instead of PPP. He warned that if judges were not restored then Nov 3 measures would also be considered part of the same conspiracy of which NRO was a part. Qazi said Gen Musharraf himself admitted that Nov 3 measures were illegal therefore only an administrative order was necessary to reverse it. But PPP's insistence to resolve it through constitutional measure amount to delaying tactics. Qazi expressed sorrow that Asif Zardari could have ushered the nation into a new era since he was given unconditional support by all quarters of society for the restoration of judges. He expressed sorrow that those who obtained votes of Musharraf's opposition have now become his new representatives. He said the nation could give a punishment to PPP bigger than PML-Q if it did not change its attitude.
