JI to abolish feudal system after coming to power: Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman
Gojra / Toba Tek Singh — October 28. Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has vowed that the JI will abolish the feudal system after coming to power and redistribute large estates and uncultivated lands among small farmers, peasants, and the poor.
Addressing the “Kisan Bachao, Pakistan Bachao” (Save the Farmer, Save Pakistan) road caravan in Gojra on Tuesday, the JI chief demanded that the government immediately slash the prices of fertiliser, seeds, pesticides, and agricultural electricity by half, while fixing the wheat support price at Rs4,500 per maund. “Affordable flour is the right of the people, and fair crop prices are the right of the farmers. Ensuring both is the government’s duty,” he said.
Rehman announced that JI would replace the outdated, exploitative system with one that guarantees justice and equality. He said the party supports cooperative farming rather than corporate farming, adding that “lands should belong to farmers, not big companies.” Kisan Board Pakistan organised the caravan.
Rehman said the JI has learned from past political alliances and would now align only with the people — farmers, labourers, youth, and women — not with ruling elites or power brokers. He said the party is also a strong defender of women’s rights and a protector of minorities.
Announcing the launch of a new nationwide movement in November, he said, “With renewed resolve and full strength, Jamaat-e-Islami will begin a movement for the people’s rights at Minar-e-Pakistan.” He invited farmers and labourers to participate in the party’s three-day Ijtema-e-Aam (public congregation) next month.
Criticising the current political order, Rehman said, “The present parliament is filled with those who owe their seats to Form-47 manipulations, and even the Form-45 winners remain silent on public issues. The same elite class has captured every institution and ruined every sector — especially agriculture under the Punjab government.”
He said the Punjab government betrayed farmers by failing to procure wheat after setting a support price last year. “The chief minister must know that mere advertisements cannot fool the people,” he said. “This oppressive system will no longer work. The exploitative economy, class-based education, and decaying judicial system must be reformed. Empowered local governments could resolve many disputes and issues at the union council level.”
“With Allah’s help and the support of the people, Jamaat-e-Islami will come to power and transform this outdated and unjust system,” he said.
