JI Women Wing protest condemns unjust sentencing of Asiya Andrabi

Islamabad: March 27: The women’s wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan staged a protest demonstration in Islamabad against the illegal and unjust sentencing of Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Asiya Andrabi and her associates by an Indian court.
A large number of women participated in the protest held outside the National Press Club, where protesters urged international organisations to take notice of the Indian court’s verdict and press for justice. Speakers at the rally described the punishment awarded to the Kashmiri women leaders as unlawful and immoral.
The demonstration was addressed by several leaders, including JI Islamabad Emir Nasrullah Randhawa, deputy secretaries of the women’s wing Ayesha Syed and Iffat Sajjad, Hurriyat leader Shamim Shawl, Qudsia Namoos, former MNA Bilqees Saif, central shura member Zubaida Khatun, and JI Islamabad Secretary General Zubair Safdar.
Addressing the gathering, Nasrullah Randhawa paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people and their leadership, stating that the struggle for freedom is their fundamental right. He strongly condemned the sentencing, terming it unjust and reflective of India’s oppressive policies in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
He said the punishment of Asiya Andrabi and her associates showed that India was unwilling to recognise the legitimate right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people. He further said that Kashmiri leaders were being imprisoned to suppress voices of freedom, adding that Kashmiri women have played a vital role in the ongoing movement.
Other speakers, including Ayesha Syed, also condemned the sentencing of Kashmiri leaders such as Yasin Malik and reiterated continued moral and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri cause.
Leaders of the women’s wing emphasised that Jamaat-e-Islami has consistently raised its voice against injustices faced by women worldwide and reaffirmed its support for the Kashmiri struggle. They called on the Government of Pakistan to take effective diplomatic steps for the release of detained Kashmiri leaders and urged the international community to pressure India to ensure that Kashmiris are granted their right to self-determination.
The participants pledged to continue advocating for the Kashmiri cause at global forums and to stand by the people of Kashmir in their struggle for freedom.
