LAHORE: NOV 21: Tens and tens of thousands of people from across Pakistan gathered in Lahore's Iqbal Park as Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) kicked off its "change the system" themed historic Ijtima-e-aam, here on Friday.
Over 150 delegates from more than 45 countries landed in Pakistan to join the convention across, reflecting Islam's message of unity.
JI Pakistan Ameer Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman while delivering the key note address, shed light in detail on the history of Muslims in the subcontinent.
Highlighting the problem of Pakistan, he mentioned that Islam in our country is mistaken as just a religion, a set of worship and rituals to be held in mosques. He made it clear that Islam is not limited to just worship, instead it is a complete code of life and a global system of governance.
"We are engaged in politics just because our beloved Islam teaches so. Prophet (SAW) established a government in Madina and set an example how Islam works."
"Those who are advocating and lobbing for the controversial 27th Constitutional Amendment, need to know that there is no immunity for anyone in the system run by Allah Almighty," he said while connecting Islam to the affairs in Pakistan.
Civil and military bureaucracy both were a part of the problem in Pakistan, he said and urged both to let the politics take its natural course.
"We have assembled in the historic park to resolve that we will bring justice in our country. The three-day event will kick off a new phase in the political history of Pakistan," he said, adding that Pakistan resolution was passed in this park and now the nation resolves to ensure a just system of governance based on Islamic principles in this country.
On the occasion, he said the nation won't compromise on Kashmir. "We supported the government during the skirmishes with India, whereas some quarters were settling scores with the government and the establishment by shifting their support to India against the Pakistani government. However, we want to make it clear that we won't compromise on the cause of Kashmir."

"Pakistan belongs to Kashmir and Kashmir belong to Pakistan."

Kashmiri freedom fighters have the very right to launch an armed struggle against Indian occupation and to get their homeland free under international laws.
"Supporting US resolution on Gaza will lead Islamabad to nowhere," he said and highlighted that Quaid e Azam had already stated that Israel is an illegitimate child of the West. In 1940s, two resolutions were passed in the same event in the same Iqbal Park; one is called Pakistan Resolution and the other one was for the cause of Palestine, he recalled.
"Keep in mind we won't let you make Pakistan a puppet for the US again," he reminded the ruling elite.
"Don't even think about joining Ibrahim Accord, otherwise you will become a horrible example and thrown to the dustbin of history," he said.
Talking about local issues, he said that land reforms are crucial as three percent giant landlords are facilitated and the rest are exploited.
Highlighting women issues, he said neither domestic violence, nor workplace mental torture against women will be tolerated. Women are kept deprived of their due inheritance share in the respective properties, he said while stressing need to rectify trends in the society.
He paid a rich tribute to his team for organising such a magnificent event.
Earlier, Liaquat Baloch -- the chief organiser of the event -- issued directions for the participants. Later in the day, Dr Osama Razi delivered a lecture on politics, Muhammad Akram Sheikh Advocate on the judiciary, seasoned economist Dr Ishrat Hussain on the economy, Dr Iqbal Khan on health, Altaf Hussain Langrial on education, Saleem Mansoor Khalid on Syed Modudi, ideology, movement and revolution, and JI Pakistan General Secretary Ameerul Azeem shed light on the history of the JI.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Friday sermon was delivered by Dr Ali Mohiuddin Karadagi -- a world famous Islami scholar.
