Faulty System’s Burden Falls on Entire Nation, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman

Says Petrol Price Hike Adds to Public Hardships

Lahore, March 14: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has said that when a system becomes dysfunctional, its consequences are borne by the entire nation, and when the state fails to fulfill its responsibilities, the burden ultimately falls on ordinary citizens.
While addressing an iftar dinner ceremonies here on Saturday, he said that the recent increase in petroleum prices further aggravated the difficulties faced by the public.
Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan organised the event in honor of orphan children. JI Lahore Emir Ziauddin Ansari Advocate, Alkhidmat Foundation General Secretary Waqas Jafri and JI Secretary Information Shakil Turabi were also present.
Rehman congratulated Alkhidmat Foundation on successfully organizing the event and appreciated its welfare services. He said the Orphan Care Program of Alkhidmat holds special importance because it focuses on supporting orphaned children. According to him, the need to care for such children in society has grown significantly in recent years.
He noted that the foundation has established Aghosh Homes where orphan children are provided accommodation, quality education, and a nurturing environment that enables them to pursue professional careers such as doctors, engineers, and IT specialists in the future.
The JI chief said that around 35,000 orphan children who live with their mothers are currently being supported through Alkhidmat’s sponsorship program. He explained that the foundation reaches these children at their doorsteps, providing educational and financial assistance. Addressing the children, he urged them to pursue education with determination, learn practical skills, and adopt strong moral and religious values in their lives.
Highlighting youth development initiatives, he said the Bano Qabil Program is also progressing successfully and is equipping young people with modern skills required in the contemporary world.
Referring to the humanitarian crisis in Palestine, Rehman said the suffering of the Palestinian people, particularly children, cannot be ignored. He stated that nearly 90,000 people have been martyred in Gaza, many of them women and children. He added that Alkhidmat Foundation has so far dispatched 50 consignments of relief goods to Gaza to support the affected population.
He said that whenever natural disasters or humanitarian crises occur, workers and volunteers of Jamaat-e-Islami actively participate in relief efforts and serve humanity. Due to Alkhidmat’s transparency and consistent services, he said, the public places strong trust in the organization and generously contributes donations.
Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman remarked that many responsibilities which should have been fulfilled by the state are currently being carried out by Alkhidmat Foundation. He added that if a Jamaat-e-Islami government were in power and an increase in petroleum prices became unavoidable, the government would bear the burden itself instead of passing it on to the people.
